Synopsis
“Feldpost” (field post) takes you to the German-occupied Latvian Courland in 1944 There, the soldiers Anton Lang and Werner Schmidt accompany you from the beginning of the first Courland battle in October, through the time in the Courland Pocket to the capitulation and dramatic escape in May 1945. The only connection to the outside, to the world beyond the Courland Pocket, to the events on the western front, and to home is the field post. This drama succeeds in conveying a piece of everyday wartime life. A story of camaraderie and cohesion in a desperate situation is authentically told on a small scale, without losing sight of the larger context.
