Synopsis
The Beginning of the End is a raw and honest documentary about domestic violence in the Middle East. It sheds light on the experiences of survivors through the eyes of three professionals working on the front lines of this crisis.
Dr. Huda Almahmeed runs a domestic violence shelter where women come to heal and start again. She shares real stories of resilience, fear, and the first steps towards freedom. Dr. Tareeq Almadawy, a psychiatrist, talks about the deep psychological wounds left by abuse – scars that last long after bruises disappear. Lawyer Zahraa Fardaan fights for justice in a system that often silences victims. She reveals the legal and cultural barriers that keep many trapped.
The film combines interviews with carefully crafted reenactments based on true events, bringing each story to life with dignity and respect. It shows the hidden reality of domestic violence – not just the pain, but also the quiet strength of those determined to break free.
The Beginning of the End is ultimately a call to listen and to act. It asks us to stand with survivors as they search for safety, dignity, and hope in a society that too often looks the other way.
