Synopsis
Chmyz (foal) is a newborn child who is currently learning about the world and experiencing reality for the first time. Relying on his mother, he is becoming more and more bold in his actions and development. The young one experiences contact with other horses, people, sounds and colors of the landscape, and most importantly, tries to join the herd. However, everything changes when the foal, trying to practice walking, cannot keep up with the rest of the herd. Running requires skill and courage in socialization. Additionally, the caring mother tries to isolate the child from the group, remaining distrustful of other members of the herd. Thanks to the curiosity and persistence of the little one, the problem is finally solved, and the story ends with the first run and joining the herd of horses.
Director Biography – Kaja Jakubowska
Kaja Jakubowska is a film director and visual artist working at the intersection of documentary and fiction. Her practice is rooted in painting, photography, and writing, and centers around presence as a directing method. She creates relational, sensory cinema built on emotional tension, intimacy, and an empathetic connection with her characters.
