Director Biography – Mathilde Brandi
The search of identity is a big theme in the work and life of Mathilde Brandi (b. 1994), having spent more than 13 years in the top of a model-business that creates and categorizes identities. The film stems from a deeply personal point in her life, where she knew she had to find her own – but only having limited tools to do so.
Mathilde Brandi works in different formats such as painting, writing, documentary filmmaking – approaches that are all united in her first short fiction film – that’s directed, filmed and written by herself.
Originally born and raised Denmark, she is currently based out of Brooklyn, New York.
The film is made just upon her arrival of moving to the city and renders on connecting with the city and the people within.
