Synopsis
Thamizh, a former female freedom fighter of the Tamil militant organisation LTTE, is haunted by memories of her past while trying to rebuild a normal life. She struggles with health issues and schizophrenia, caused by the poisoning she suffered in prison and the resulting depression. When Thenu, a 6-year-old girl from her neighbourhood, goes missing, Thamizh embarks on a mission to find and rescue her. Her only source of strength is Neelam, a brave fictional historical figure who risked her life to save captives. Inspired by Neelam, Thamizh pushes forward, uncovering shocking secrets along the way. As she relentlessly pursues the truth, she is forced to confront her past and ultimately discovers Thenu’s fate.

Director Biography – Navayuga Kugarajah
Navayuga Kugarajah is an accomplished Sri Lankan filmmaker who honed her craft through the Film and TV Industry Essentials program at the prestigious New York University – Tisch School of the Arts. Her passion for filmmaking is deeply rooted in her lived experience of war from birth to her mid-twenties, during which she lost her father and several family members.
She made her feature film debut with Bommai (An Island Story), a poignant exploration of untold war stories, post-conflict survival, and the emotional scars left behind. Her filmography also includes award-winning works such as Pottu, Pettaik Kozhi Koovi, Vaakai, Red Box, and the documentary series The Land of Gods. Each project delves into forgotten lives, exposing deep struggles and celebrating resilience.
Beyond filmmaking, Navayuga is also a writer and poet. As a creative force, she continues to push boundaries, using cinema as a powerful tool for advocacy, awareness, and change.
