THE SCENT OF DIALOGUE

Winner > Best Short Film
Synopsis
An Afghan woman, ZAHRA, 26 years older who arrived with her husband in Sweden three and a half years ago, separated six months ago to follow her dreams and find herself in a new life. She wants to create a new life in the new society which she thinks is a long-awaited opportunity for her. Living alone feels great in the beginning, but she is exposed to some problems that she is not prepared for.
She studies and at the same time works as a home help in a home help center. Now, six months after the separation, she finally dares to tell her mother about the separation (it is a big shame in Afghanistan that as a young woman you separate and live alone, almost as a taboo).
The mother who recently had heart surgery gets angry and stops contacting her.
In this film, Zahra fights to find a way that she can keep both her freedom and her mother’s contact.
